This Specialization teaches you about academic English writing skills in order to empower you to succeed in any college-level course or professional field. In these courses, You will conduct rigorous academic research and learn to express your ideas clearly in an academic format. The final result, you’ve gained over the span of these courses will be able to culminate in an academic research paper on an issue of your target.
How It Works
#1 Take the Courses
Coursef's Specialization is a series of courses that help you master a skill. To get started, register in the Specialization directly. Then read courses' reviews and choose the one you'd like to start with. When you involve in a course that is part of a Specialization, you’re automatically involved in the full Specialization. There are no problems in completing just one course and you can pause your learning or end your subscription at any time.
#2 Practicing Project
Every Specialization includes a practicing project. You will be required to complete successfully the project(s) to earn your certificate. If the Specialization includes a separate course to start the hands-on project, you'll need to finish each before proceeding.
#3 Earn a Certificate
When you complete every course and finish the hands-on project, you'll get a Certificate that you can share with employers and your professional network.

Course 1: Grammar and Punctuation
Have you forgotten the grammar you once studied? If so, this course is for you. It will help you prepare you for the other courses. This first course will take about 10 hours to complete. In this course, you will watch short video lectures and then practice and discuss what you have learned. Make sure you take good notes and ask questions during the learning time. After finishing this course, you will be able to identify the verb tenses correctly, use commas effectively, build several different sentence types, write more effectively in English.
Course 2: Getting Started with Essay Writing
This is the second course in Academic English: Writing specialization. This course will introduce you to three types of academic essays. It will especially help anyone who wants to improve his or her writing skills can benefit from this course. After finishing this course, you will be able to: - create effective thesis statements - write compare/contrast, cause/effect, and argument essays - write well-developed body paragraphs for your essays.
Course 3: Advanced Writing
This is the third course that will raise your level of academic writing for college-level work. After finishing this course, you will be able to: - write a more sophisticated argument essay - identify plagiarism - analyze several articles to give your own opinion on a topic - form thesis statements from your readings - use sources effectively
Course 4: Introduction to Research for Essay Writing
This is the last course that will be able to complete all the steps in planning a research paper. After finishing this course, you will be able to: - choose suitable research topics - write detailed outlines - find source material effectively - take and organize good notes - use appropriate academic language - build document sources to avoid plagiarizing your sources
