Traditional vs Online education

Today, there are two ways to get education, which were voiced by the International Commission on Education, Science and Culture at the United Nations (UNESCO): "academic education" and "education through life". If you look at them more closely and assess the current situation in the country, you realize that everything is not so simple. It seems that both the demand and the supply are appropriate, but not always the conditions in which a potential student is located allow you to get a quality education at the right time. Regardless, of the type of study, any student will benefit from getting support from homework help.

Take, for example, geography. There is a central region of the country, where most of the prestigious universities with a high level of education and the appropriate composition of teachers are located. Applicants for high-quality education are scattered all over the country and do not always have the opportunity to come to this very center of the country and study.

And here is another difficulty — time, which is money. This simple truth is known to all. And therefore, this component of modern life plays an important role in solving the issue of education. A good specialist, responsible and reliable, has time scheduled by the minute. To maximize their level of education, they can take courses or classes in various evening schools, or weekend schools. This is not enough to become an excellent specialist in such a rapidly changing world, in which you need to be one step ahead of your competitors.

And the last, no less common difficulty is the financial side of the issue. Not everyone will have time to enter the few free places and, accordingly, in order to get a good education in a prestigious university, will have to pay a tidy sum. And where to get it?

Online education as one of the outputs and the technologies used in it.

And yet there is a way out. And it is called online education. I think many of you have already heard about this dish and know what it is eaten with. Distance education involves receiving education at a distance when the teacher and the student communicate remotely.

There are three online learning options:

A technology-based on paper and audio media, in which it is assumed that the teacher assigned to the student checks the completion of tasks by receiving them by mail. Consultation on the student's questions is carried out by phone or in special training centers.
Television and satellite technology. Currently, due to the cost of training, it is little used.

Online training or network technology.

Online learning is conducted in all three technologies.

In the early 2000s, an All-Russian experiment was conducted, in which state and non-state educational institutions participated. The participants of the experiment worked out all types of distance education technologies, within the framework of which specialized training programs were created and tested by universities.

Already based on the programs, methods of distance learning were subsequently developed and, importantly, the regulatory and legal support that allows universities to officially use this form of education.

Opting for distance learning

Distance learning is good for obtaining a second higher education, for taking advanced training courses, studying individual subjects, in some cases, when obtaining an MBA, if the choice fell on a Western business school. Basic education is recommended to be obtained using full-time education.

Choosing an educational program

When choosing one of the distance learning technologies and the university where you can take such training, you need to be careful. The success of the course can be judged by the duration of the curriculum, the number of students enrolled in it, the reputation of the university, as well as if there is an opportunity to ask the graduates or students themselves. If the university is located abroad, it is worth checking that it has the appropriate accreditation. All these precautions are necessary because distance education has appeared relatively recently, especially in developing countries.

Advantages and disadvantages of distance education

As they say, everything has its pros and cons. Let us also consider these points in relation to distance education.

Pros

  • Individual learning speed
  • Freedom and flexibility in the choice of courses, places of study, and duration of classes.
  • Accessibility (geographical and spatial component).
  • Mobility (productive implementation of feedback between the teacher and the student).
  • Adaptability (use of the latest developments in information and telecommunications technologies).
  • Social equality.
  • Creativity.

Cons

  • Strict discipline, independence, consciousness.
  • Lack of practical training.
  • Lack of control over the implementation of tasks in the curriculum.
  • Lack of face-to-face communication between the two sides of the learning process (excludes the moment of individual approach).
  • The need for good technical equipment and constant access to the Internet.
  • The lack of the ability to express their thoughts in verbal form.
  • The training programs are incomplete due to the lack of qualified specialists.

So, we can conclude that distance education takes place in the modern world and is convenient and useful. And yet, having chosen this method of training, you need to think carefully: are you capable of mostly independent study? Will you be able to distribute your time and workload correctly? Master a hitherto unknown object? If you are faced with one of the above difficulties and found an excellent university with a suitable training program, then you can try to get the necessary education in this way. But if these difficulties are not on your way, it is better to give preference to the traditional option. In both cases, the student may need help, which can be obtained by ordering a thesis, term paper, or other student work from professional authors.

All around the world, the demand for distance learning is mostly concentrated in the regions, where there is a lack of international educational institutions. This is confirmed by the fact that a network project was recently launched, within the framework of which eight of the best universities in the country united in the Association "International Platform for Open Education". The goal of this project is to create conditions and opportunities for everyone to get modern knowledge and high-quality education. And it is assumed that this model of training will be in demand among students of regional universities, they will have the opportunity to learn from professors of leading universities.
